We all know that person. You know, the one who already has everything and who makes life difficult (in the nicest way possible) every time it comes down to buying a birthday present, anniversary and Christmas present. More often than not, they’re delighted with the gift you give them, but inwardly you’re cringing because you’re never quite sure if it’s right, and you know that they’re just too nice to show anything other than total appreciation.
Of course, life is about more than just possessions, but you also do want to mark some occasions – milestone birthdays, anniversaries and so on – with something special. One really great idea, especially in these funny ol’ times, is to give a gift that keeps on giving. This could be a fruit tree, a magazine subscription, or you could buy silver coins from Golden Eagle Coins instead.
Why give coins as a gift?
Most of us are familiar with giving younger family members money on their birthdays, but this is a bit different. For a start, they won’t be able to take these coins to the shops and spend them! This might seem a bit dull to youngsters, it’s true, so your gift of Silver Dollars might have to be backed up with something cheap and fun to secure your place as favorite aunt…
The main reason for giving someone collectible coins as a gift is so that they have an investment. By keeping hold of those coins for a number of years – maybe even decades – they’ll benefit from an increase in their value so that when it’s time for college or retirement, they have something to sell or leave as an inheritance.
If you’re thinking about giving a loved one some valuable coins as a gift, then you need to make sure that they and the people immediately around them are trustworthy. It may also be a good idea to be discreet about your gift – no opening a package of shiny, expensive discs in the middle of a party and giving people ideas…
It doesn’t have to cost the earth
By now you may be wondering exactly how you can afford to buy a gold bullion coin that costs several hundred dollars. It’s great if you can, maybe for an important birthday or anniversary and especially if the whole family contributes. However, if your budget is a bit smaller, there are lots of cheaper but no less beautiful coins, like the 2007 American Silver Eagles. These coins cost between $20 and $30 each, although if you’re buying a set then you can often get a discount.
Share the love
Another alternative, especially if you’re giving the present with an eye to the birthday boy or girl’s financial future, is to buy them some shares in a gold company. This can work out very nicely indeed, as gold very rarely fails to make money for its owners.
That said, though, there’s something incredibly thrilling about handling gold or silver bullion coins, so you could do both physical coins and shares, especially if someone’s been very good in the last 12 months…
